Richard Mettler

As a film editor, Richard Mettler has collaborated with influential directors, production companies and advertising agencies worldwide. Mettler's advert portfolio includes projects for Samsung, Volkswagen, Cartier, Cadillac, Dior, Mitsubishi, Infiniti, Mugler, Mercedes, L'Oreal and Calvin Klein to name a few. Richard has worked with leading agencies around the world including, TBWA, Saatchi & Saatchi, Grey, JWT, Leo Burnett, Ogilvy, Publicis, Merkley, SelectNY and McCann. Richard has worked and embraced remote technologies since 2008.

In parallel to advertising, Richard edits feature films. He has edited Sean Ellis latest motion pictures “Eight for Silver”, which premiered at Sundance 2021 and will release in theaters April 2022, "Anthropoid", who he was nominated for “Best Editing” at the Czech Lion Awards, and "Metro Manila", which won the “World Cinema Dramatic Audience Award” at Sundance 2013, as well as three Awards at the British Independent Film Awards including “Best Film” and “Best Director”. He has also edited “The Secrets We Keep” directed by Yuval Adler and the reprise for “Jacob’s Ladder” directed by David Rosenthal. Richard is currently working side by side with Rupert Wyatt on “Desert Warrior” starring Ben Kingsley and Anthony Mackie. He is represented by UTA in the US and UK for all motion pictures.

Mettler also edits music videos and was nominated at the “UK Music Video Award” for.his work on “Backstabber” directed by Laurent Chanez.

 

Prior to his editorial career, Mettler spent most of his time in recording studios, producing tracks for various artists. He has also toured Europe as a keyboard player.

 

Born in France, Mettler grew up in Pigalle, Paris - an area renowned for its diversity and avant-garde art scene - with a mother who worked as an advertising manager for the French music magazine "Rock & Folk", and a father who owned multiple musical instruments stores.

Mettler has both US and EU passports.
