As a film editor, Richard Mettler edits worldwide. He collaborates with influential directors such as Laurent Chanez, Sean Ellis, Johan Renck, Pierre Debusschère, Sølve Sundsbø, Tim Richardson, Jeff Darling, Joe Wright, Pierluca De Carlo and Atanasio + Martinez.
Mettler's advertising portfolio includes projects for Volkswagen, Cartier,Cadillac, Mugler, Mercedes, Christian Lacroix Infiniti, L'Oreal and Mastercard to name a few. Mettler has worked for leading agencies around the world including, TBWA, Saatchi & Saatchi, Grey, JWT, Leo Burnett, Ogilvy, Publicis, Merkley, SelectNY and McCann.
In parallel to his advertising career, Mettler also focuses on films. He edited Sean Ellis latest motion pictures "Anthropoid" and "Metro Manila", which won the “World Cinema Dramatic Audience Award” at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and took three Awards at the British Independent Film Awards, including “Best Film” and “Best Director”. He has also edited several Short films, including Space Cadet, which was nominated at the Tribeca Film Festival. Mettler is currently represented by UTA for motion pictures.
During the course of his editorial career, Mettler has collaborated with several US editorial companies including Wildchild Represents, Jump, Peepshow and Consulate. Prior to his editorial career, Mettler spent most of his time in recording studios, producing records, but also on tours in Europe as a keyboard player.
Born in France, Mettler grew up in Pigalle, Paris - an area renowned for its avant-garde art scene - with a mother who worked as an advertising manager for the French music magazine "Rock & Folk" and a father who owned musical instruments stores.
